24 April 2018, Dhaka: Bluenumber is open for business in Dhaka, Bangladesh, partnering with Win Incorporate, a leading provider of agricultural support services and engaging a network of over 30,000 farmers.
Led by Dr Kashifa Ahmad, CEO of Win Incorporate, and Senior Representative for Bluenumber in Bangladesh, the partnership aims to accelerate the development of the agriculture sector in Bangladesh. Win will enhance its provision of strategic information and support to farmers by leveraging Bluenumber technology and systems in project design, management and delivery across the country.
Through local knowledge of performance by farmers and agribusinesses in Bangladesh, Win will interface with local communities and spearhead Bluenumber efforts in Bangladesh to advance secure and equitable food systems.
According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), small farmers in Bangladesh are often subject to unfair trade and practices by exploitative middle-men and traders. Over 75 per cent of farmers live on less than $2 per day. By 2025, there will be 130 million of farmers needing direct access to markets. They will be offered channels on the Bluenumber platform and supported by training and up-skilling by Win.
A Bluenumber is a unique identifier for anyone in a supply chain: from farmers, producers, distributors and vendors to consumers.
Bluenumber and Win will bring greater transparency, sustainability and efficiency to agribusinesses in Bangladesh. The partnership will give small farmers opportunities to make their contributions to domestic and export supply chains more resilient, reliable and valued.
